Continuing Medical Education Accreditation

The Resuscitation Group (TRG) and the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM) jointly provide credit for the ACLS, ACLS-EP, and PALS Certification and Recertification courses. The Following Courses are Jointly provided by Postgraduate Institute for Medicine and The Resuscitation Group (TRG)

Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients facing cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, or similar life-threatening situations.
Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Initial Provider (ACLS Certification)
- Recognize and manage respiratory arrest and cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or immediate post-cardiac arrest care.
- Respond with the appropriate life support algorithm upon recognition of specific needs of the patient in an acute life-threatening situation.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the types and dosages of medications commonly used.
- Execute efficient communication and performance methods working as a member within, or a team leader of, a resuscitation team.
- Employ competence in Basic Life Support (BLS) care, including proper administration of CPR and proper use of an automated external device (AED)
- Provide appropriate care and counsel for patients and their families.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Update (ACLS Update)
- Recognize the adult in peri-arrest and/or at risk of cardiopulmonary arrest.
- Demonstrate the skills necessary for resuscitating and stabilizing the adult in respiratory failure, shock, or cardio-pulmonary arrest.
- Demonstrate quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Demonstrate various airway and oxygen adjuncts and methods for optimum ventilation & airway control.
- Identify cardiac rhythms and interact with appropriate interventions.
- State the indications & dosages of medications used in resuscitation.
- Perform advanced skills in the assessment and treatment of cardiopulmonary arrest in the adult patient.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support for the Experienced Provider (ACLS-EP)
- Recognize the adult in peri-arrest and/or at risk of cardiopulmonary arrest.
- Demonstrate the skills necessary for resuscitating and stabilizing the adult in respiratory failure, shock, or cardio-pulmonary arrest.
- Demonstrate quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
